Stranger than Fiction Book Club -- "Radiant Child: The Story of Young Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat"

Stranger than Fiction Book Club -- "Radiant Child: The Story of Young Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat"

Use books to explore fascinating, awe-inspiring, wacky, and surprising stories... all of them TRUE!

Stranger than Fiction is a read-along book club designed for elementary school aged children who love to explore interesting topics in science, history, culture, and more. Each meeting will highlight one fascinating non-fiction book from our library collection. We will read the book together at the meeting and discuss the topic, then take a deeper dive through related games, documentary films, and STEAM activities.

To celebrate Black History Month, February's book club will read Radiant Child: The Story of Young Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat by Javaka Steptoe and learn more about his work and influence on the world of fine art. Afterwards we will use collage, paint, crayons, and more to create graffiti art pieces inspired by Basquiat's unique style.

Ages 6-10.
