Lunar New Year Decorative Lanterns

Lunar New Year Decorative Lanterns

Why traditional lanterns?

It is traditional for the Chinese to decorate windows and doors with red paper, featuring themes of happiness, good fortune, longevity, and more.
In this workshop participants will make a lantern by binding a bamboo frame with paper and stretching fabric over it to decorate. All supplies and materials will be provided. Cosponsored by the Fairfax Library Foundation.

About the artist

The class will be led by an artist whose work focuses on classical Chinese and Japanese art styles. He received his Bachelors in Art and Visual Technology from George Mason University and works at the same University.
