School of Rap - Songwriting and Creative Composition Workshop
Dumi Right, award winning songwriter and performance artist, will engage participants with interactive exercises and activities to unlock their creativity, boost confidence and promote quick and innovative thinking. Participants will learn about creative writing using Hip Hop, rhymes, poetry and ultimately songs made over beats.
Hip Hop is a global cultural phenomenon that speaks directly to the youth. The facilitator will provide tools and insight for the creative process including brainstorming, improvisation, messaging, audience analysis, structure, organization and delivery. The outcome will be some really cool creations that the students will develop as part of the workshop, but more importantly a universal toolbox that can be utilized for creative endeavors, even in their activities outside of literature and music.
Participants will receive a certificate from the School of Rap, signed by the Dean of the Department of Emceeing, Dumi Right.
Cosponsored by the Friends of Kings Park Library.
