Those Plucky Women of WWII – Part 2

Those Plucky Women of WWII – Part 2

They defied the norm.

During World War II, 350,000 American women joined the military. Many people disapproved of women in uniform, but the women didn't care – they persevered and outshone everyone’s expectations.

Kayleen Reusser, author of books on World War II, has compiled another exciting assortment of stories from women whom she interviewed. They served in hospitals in Europe and, as America’s first female military pilots, tested new planes off the assembly line. Many people agree that without their help, our country would have had a difficult time in winning the war. Cosponsored by the Fairfax Library Foundation.
