Fire of Love Screening & Conversation

Fire of Love Screening & Conversation

"If I could eat rocks, I'd stay on the volcanoes and never come down." -- Maurice Krafft

VOLCANOES! We are proud to offer a unique hybrid educational event from National Geographic.

Enjoy your own private home screening of the NatGeo documentary film “Fire of Love” using a special link and access code from the library. The film, which was nominated for an Academy Award, is about the colorful and adventurous lives of intrepid volcano scientists and photographers Katia and Maurice Krafft.

Then, to supplement the film, you're welcome to join us on May 27th at Reston Library to hear from geologist and former Smithsonian educator Leanne Wiberg, who consulted on NatGeo’s film and played a role in the hybrid outreach offered here. Leanne got to know this intrepid couple decades ago when she was constructing an educational program for what is likely to be the last major museum exhibition to feature the Kraffts films and photos before they died.
