Burke Historical Society Presents: Clara Barton
Burke Historical Society Lecture Series.
BHS member Mary Lipsey will discuss the life of Clara Barton, renowned widely for her care of the wounded during the American Civil War and for her subsequent founding of the American Red Cross. Locally and regionally, she mobilized a field hospital at St. Mary of Sorrows Catholic Church in Fairfax Station, worked for the Patent Office and directed the Office of Missing Soldiers in Washington, and made her home at Glen Echo.
This program is appropriate for ages 13 & Up
