Burke Historical Society Presents: Understanding Maps and the Stories They Tell presented by Ronald Grim*
Burke Historical Society Lecture Series.
Pre-21st century maps, as well as current iPhone representations, are generally considered to be wayfinders – graphic documents guiding us to our destinations or helping us locate important places along life’s journey. However, maps can be much more, because they are also story tellers. Maps must be studied for both omissions and co-missions, both in terms of content and ornamental decoration. Learn how meaning is layered in maps through the choices and designs of their creators and editors.
This program is appropriate for ages 13 & Up
