Burke Historical Society Presents: The History of Occoquan

Burke Historical Society Presents: The History of Occoquan

Burke Historical Society Lecture Series.

Mayor Dr. Earnie Porta will discuss the history of the Town of Occoquan in Prince William County.  Amid land occupied by Native Americans for thousands of years, the area was visited by Capt. John Smith, developed into an industrial and commercial center with one of the nation’s first automated gristmills, saw several engagements during the Civil War, and after a devastating hurricane rebuilt into today’s community embracing both old and new.

This program is appropriate for ages 13 & Up
