National Seed Swap Day!
Join Hands On Harvests, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping people grow their own food, for National Seed Swap Day!
Trade your extra seeds for new varieties to try. If you don’t have seeds, come anyway and pick up a few packets of something you’ve wanted to try growing. Meet other gardeners, learn how to save seeds and discover Burke Centre’s seed library. HOH will be giving away a small composter and providing a garden-related children’s activity as well.
To learn more about Hands On Harvests and how you can get involved, check out the HOH website.
To package your seeds for swapping:
- Bring your seeds in sealed paper envelopes (envelopes can be used or even DIY – just reseal them).
- Label every envelope in easy-to-read writing with the seed type, year and, if you know it, where the seeds came from. If you collected them, write “homegrown” and what city you live in.
- Please, no seeds dated before 2021.
This program is for adults, teens and accompanied children.
