Intergenerational: Art of Braille

Intergenerational: Art of Braille

Braille as Art

2024 is the 200th anniversary of the braille alphabet! For our craft, learn the braille letters you'll need to then spell out your name using brightly colored rhinestones. Staff from our Access Services library branch will talk about braille and so much more. In addition to creating our tactile craft, you'll have the opportunity to use a braille typewriter, try a mobility cane, touch books written in braille and see some other braille-related items. Play a game of trivia where you'll need to figure out the answers using the braille alphabet! Age 8 and up. No registration is necessary this month!

What can Access Services do for you?

Come meet staff from our Access Services library branch who be on hand to talk about what they can offer to blind and visually impaired residents as well as to Fairfax County residents who are homebound due to age or disability. They will host a session of hands-on show-and-tell with items from their collection.

Can you figure out what the artwork advertising the program says?
