Eleanor Roosevelt's Fairfax County Field Trips
School field trips provide “vivid, first-hand experiences,” as the Todhunter School for Girls in New York City put it in the 1930s. At that time, one of the school’s teachers was none other than Eleanor Roosevelt, and on multiple occasions, she took her students to see the historic sights of Fairfax County.
Learn about Roosevelt as a teacher and her visits to Mount Vernon and Gunston Hall at this presentation by Tammy Mannarino (BackyardMountVernon.com), a local historian on the Fairfax County History Commission.
