Craft Night: Diwali Elephants
In India, elephants serve as a sacred symbol in Hindu and Buddhist religions. Elephants represent the idea of loyalty, wisdom, and power, and are kept by many Hindu temples. Diwali is one of India's biggest holidays, referred to as the Festival of Lights. Celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar months of Ashvin and Kartika (mid-October to mid-November), it's a five- to six-day festival featuring different ceremonies each day! The festival represents the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance".
Celebrate this special holiday by creating your very own good-luck Diwali elephant!
