Late Night in the Virginia Room

Late Night in the Virginia Room

Are you a night owl family historian? This is your night! Join fellow researchers and genealogists for after-hours research in the Virginia Room. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to connect you with resources. Research independently or attend classes on Civil War research and how to write the histories of ancestors using social history. One-on-one help desk sessions will also be provided by members of the Fairfax Genealogical Society and Virginia Room staff will give tours of the Rare Book Room. Researchers will enjoy complimentary pizza and drinks. Attendees MUST arrive before the library closes at 6 pm, but may leave at any time.

 Classes include:

5:30 – 6:30 p.m.  Locating Information About Civil War Ancestors. Discover what kinds of records about the life and service of your Civil War veteran may exist and where to find them. Mark Hall, Virginia Room librarian and Civil War researcher, leads this class.

7:00 – 7:30 p.m. Connecting through Family History. Hannivett Nabahe, Virginia Room librarian, will introduce our Family History Kits and the latest addition to FCPL's Library of Things. Join us and learn about this game-like approach to exchanging stories and wisdom across generations.
