Learn to Play the Ukulele
Celebrate Hawaiian culture during Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month & learn to play the ukulele. Classes are taught by a professional instructor from Potomac Music, ukuleles will be provided for use in class. This is a 3 week program, sign up once and attend all 3 sessions. In partnership with Potomac Music and the Lorton Friends. Adults. Teens.

- Develop ukulele technique including left hand shape, picking technique, chords
- Develop ensemble skills including playing to a steady beat with a group, listening to others in a group, starting and stopping together as appropriate,
- Develop aural skills such as hearing correct pitch and pitch matching
- Develop basic music theory skills such as melodic and rhythmic dictation, basic understanding of chord
- Develop routine for home practice
A professional instructor from Potomac Music will teach ukulele lessons over the course of 3 weeks. Class set of ukuleles will be provided by Potomac Music. Participants are encouraged to have their own instrument to practice at home. All sheet music, folders, etc will be provided by the instructor for students use during class and for home practice.
