In addition to playing at the White House, Mariachi Los Amigos has performed at the Kennedy Center and for the Washington Nationals. The band's cofounder and group member Dr. Daniel Sheehy, director and curator emeritus of Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, is also author of the book Mariachi Music in America: Experiencing Music, Expressing Culture.
