Rhythm Around the World: 2024 Summer Music and Dance Series

Sip your faux-garita and savor the music of Mariachi Los Amigos, the legendary performers who have serenaded U.S. presidents and their guests!

In addition to playing at the White House, Mariachi Los Amigos has performed at the Kennedy Center and for the Washington Nationals. The band's cofounder and group member Dr. Daniel Sheehy, director and curator emeritus of Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, is also author of the book Mariachi Music in America: Experiencing Music, Expressing Culture. For a sneak peak of the group, check out NBC4's story on the DC-area institution, or read about them here in Northern Virginia Magazine.

Listen to stirring music and learn more about the art form that UNESCO has declared an “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.” Cantina fare and mock margaritas will round out a memorable evening.
