Beginning Knitting

Ramp up your knitting game and learn new skills! For our next knitting project, we are tackling the Grrlfriend Market Bag by Laura Spradlin.

Materials are provided but must stay in the Pohick Makerspace due to limited supplies. If you would like to be able to bring your project home and work on it between class times, you are welcome to bring your own yarn and needles. For this project, we need strong fibers because the bag is going to have to hold some weight. Choose a plant fiber (cotton, linen, hemp, or a blend) or a strong acrylic yarn. If you can't break the yarn by pulling on it and need scissors to cut it, you've got a good yarn for this bag. We'll be using a fingering sport or worsted  weight yarn (sizes 3 or 4). You'll need 100-150g. We'll work with you to determine the appropriate needles.

If you can knit and purl, this class is for you! If you don't know how to knit yet, come along to this class and we'll teach you. We won't have you working on this bag just yet, but we'll get you up to speed soon!
