Introduction to Body Gua Sha Massage and Qigong with Nevin Turk
Gua sha is rooted in Chinese medicine and has been used for thousands of years. As an “instrument assisted massage technique, it has been shown to help with pain relief, improved circulation, myofascial release, stress reduction and overall muscle relaxation. Many people know gua sha as a facial rejuvenation tool, but in its origin, it was used for prevention and treatment purposes.

Licensed acupuncturist and qigong instructor Nevin Turk will demonstrate the technique and key acupuncture points. You can incorporate those points into a whole body gua sha massage that you can do on your own to manage common pain conditions.
- Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily fold your sleeves or pants easily.
- Bring a guasha stone if you have it at home, or a round-edged Chinese soup spoon, or good quality stainless steel spoon with you to practice during the session.
ABOUT NEVIN TURK
Nevin Turk is a practicing, licensed acupuncturist. She received her Master of Acupuncture degree from the Virginia University of Integrative Medicine. She offered weekly qigong and yoga classes, and seasonal day-long retreats through Fairfax County Public Library, providing accessible wellness activities to the community. She is passionate about sharing natural but effective solutions to enhance wellbeing and in general for preventive health purposes.
