Genealogy 101: Understanding and Using Census Records
Census records are a vital part of researching you family history. Learn why the census was created and what the records tell us. Session includes helpful hints, census dates, what survived the 1890 fire, special censuses, and territorial and state census records. Learn about the instructions given to the census takers and discover some little known census records to research. This is a good beginner’s course and a good refresher course on using census records.
Presentation will be given by Mount Vernon Genealogical Society member Sharon Hodges. A professional genealogist, teacher, author, and lecturer, Sharon has been involved in genealogical research for over 35 years.
