Managing Ticks: Pesticide Reduction for Pollinator Protection

This session will discuss:

  • Key identification information for the most common ticks in the DMV and their lifecycles
  • The safest ways to avoid and repel ticks without spraying yards with chemicals
  • How ticks spread disease
  • What to do if you find a tick on persons and pets

 

Kasha Helget is a certified Master Naturalist and previous board member of the Arlington Regional Master Naturalists (ARMN). Helget collaborates with Virginia Cooperative Extension and Master Gardeners of Northern Virginia as well as entomologists from Virginia Tech to provide the latest information about both mosquito and tick safety and how to protect beneficial pollinators from pesticides.
