Great Decisions: U.S.-China Relations

Great Decisions: U.S.-China Relations

There is one thing that people can agree on across the aisle in Washington, DC: The United States is in a strategic competition with a rising China that poses a range of economic, political, and military security challenges.

Washington’s relations with Beijing have reached an ominous low ebb. Both American political parties have identified China as the country’s preeminent geopolitical challenger and, in the eyes of many, a systemic threat. What is driving this deterioration of Sino-American relations, and what are America’s strategic options in the face of Chinese power and ambition?

Join us for a discussion of  “Competition, Cold War, or Conflict? Navigating U.S.-China Relations in Tense Times” by Thomas J. Christensen.

A brief presentation will be followed by a courteous group discussion based on the article.
