Poet, Rebel, Philosopher, Anarchist: The Remarkable Legacy of Voltairine de Cleyre
Celebrating Women's History Month
Join us for a revealing lecture on Voltairine de Cleyre, the all-but-forgotten figure Emma Goldman once called "the most gifted and brilliant anarchist woman America ever produced."
Born in Michigan in 1886, de Cleyre spent her life challenging the restrictive norms of patriarchy, religion, and capitalism in her time, advocating for individual liberty, free thought, and radical equality for women. This talk will introduce de Cleyre's life and the experiences that led her to her radical feminist ideas, highlighting her uniquely American contributions to anarchist theory, and the striking relevance of perspective for the social justice problems of our time. This is a great opportunity to rediscover the legacy of a singular feminist icon and the lessons she offers us in the 21st century!
