Mowing the Lawn with a Hammer: Pivoting from Codependency to Co-Intelligence with AI Tools

Mowing the Lawn with a Hammer: Pivoting from Codependency to Co-Intelligence with AI Tools

The state of education in America is at a technological precipice. A continual tension exists between teachers and students over the use of AI tools; teachers see AI as a shortcut, and students, well, they also see AI as a shortcut. It is no longer rational to ignore the influence of artificial intelligence in our teaching methodologies and learning strategies, treating digital tools as the wild west of knowledge creation. By pivoting our teaching strategies to incorporate AI, we can encourage digital literacy by demonstrating the advantages, disadvantages, and possible utilization of AI to not only deepen understanding but also expand intellectual horizons. Rachel will discuss teaching strategies to flip the script on AI use from life skills reduction to expanding the possibilities of comprehension and application.
