Breaking Down Barriers
Explore the narratives of Black residents in Fairfax County, encompassing the experiences of the enslaved, military personnel, educators, entertainers, and community activists who engaged in both national and local matters. Their efforts played a crucial role in breaking down barriers for everyone who faced discrimination, segregation, and adversity. For instance, Annie Harper took a stand against poll taxes, while Mr. and Mrs. Mott challenged restrictions that prevented them from entering a County Park, among other struggles.
