Making Your Mixtape: Poetry Writing Workshop

Making Your Mixtape: Poetry Writing Workshop

Celebrate National Poetry Month with Fairfax County Poet Laureate Angelique Palmer as she explores the intersection between spoken word poetry and music. Get inspired by a mixtape of soothing jazz, electric rock, catchy pop, and dynamic hip hop, and more. Palmer will act as a conductor, choreographer, and animator in this free poetry workshop, leading audience members to write and perform their original pieces. You can even create the cover art for your own mixtape!

In Palmer’s own words, “There's a way to say what you mean and give the right emphasis to the right words. There’s a way our words out loud can become living things that bop to a beat and sway to the melody.”

All supplies included. Registration is required, and seating is limited.
