An Afternoon with Susan Gaeta: The Life and Music of Flory Jagoda
Join master vocalist and guitarist Susan Gaeta as she celebrates the the rich traditions of Sephardic music though the inspiring life of her mentor, legendary folk singer and National Heritage Fellow, Flory Jagoda.
From her childhood in a Bosnian village, through her journey as a refugee and her arrival in the United States as a war bride, Susan will introduce you to Flory's remarkable story and the Sephardic traditions she kept alive through her compositions as the "Keeper of the Flame" of Sephardic music.
This program is in commemoration of Jewish American Heritage Month.

Vocalist and guitarist Susan Gaeta is an important member of a new generation of musicians who are exploring the rich and varied traditions of Sephardic music.
Susan has appeared at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, the Askenazi Festival in Toronto, Canada and historic concerts in Istanbul and Sarajevo. She continues to perform as a soloist and with Howard Bass and Tina Chancey of Trio Sefardi. She is currently a Master Artist in the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities teaching and continuing Flory Jagoda’s work.
