From A to Zine: Chapbooks: A Brief History of Zines (hybrid)
NoVA Prism Center and Fairfax County Public Library present “From A to Zine,” a three-workshop series that covers a brief history of zines, chapbooks for creative writers, and illustrating your zine, as well as activities for participants.
The series will be hosted in a hybrid format: each workshop will be hosted in person at one library branch indicated in the program description and displayed virtually at the other two participating locations.
Each branch will host one of the three workshops in person.
Presentation: A Brief History of Zines hosted at Burke Center Community Library (in-person)
Workshop 1:
Setting up a one-page zine and make a simple one-page zine.

1. Presentation: Chapbooks: Zines for Creative Writers hosted at City of Fairfax Regional Library
2. Activity: Writing for Zine Creators & Chapbook Inspiration Station
3. Wrap-up: Guide to DIY chapbook printing & instructions for submitting written works to the final project zine (and for receiving a copy upon completion)
Workshop 3: Aug 5, 7-8:30 p.m.
Presentation: Art, Activism, and Authenticity: Illustrating Your Story hosted at Dolley Madison Library
Activity: Visual Arts for Zine Creators & Art Zine Inspiration Station
Wrap-up: Guide to DIY art zine printing & instructions for submitting visual works to the final project zine (and for receiving a copy upon completion)
