Color Our World - Tie Dye Day!
Create your own tie dyed masterpiece!
What better way to Color Our World this summer than to color your shirt? Stop by the Information Desk starting at 10:30am for your free ticket to get your shirt. A variety of kids and adult sizes will be available - first come, first served! You'll then be directed outside to our staff parking lot, that's where the dyeing will be done. A fun part of tie dyeing is folding and rubber banding your shirt to create different patterns before applying dye, and this great playlist has lots of folding patterns for you to choose!
If you'd like to bring your own 100% cotton shirt, then after everyone with tickets is done you can line up to use our leftover dye. Please bring a sealable bag to take your shirt home in! We will stop dyeing at 12:00 noon or if the dye runs out first.
Special notes: this dye is permanent and will stain, please do not wear good clothes or shoes. Once you've finished dyeing your shirt, it goes into a bag to be taken home or left in your car. Dyed shirts cannot be brought into the library to avoid stains.
If you have questions about the appropriate age for a program, its content, or accommodations, please call the library at 703-644-7333 (option 4).
