Friends of the Virginia Room Annual Meeting

Friends of the Virginia Room Annual Meeting

Come enjoy a Sunday afternoon with the Friends of the Virginia Room! Following a brief Business Meeting, there will be a featured program speaker and refreshments.

Historian and realtor Karen Washburn will talk about her 2025 book, Supply and Demand: The Development of Arlington and Fairfax Counties, 1649–1960. (Copies will be available for purchase.)

The book explores more than 300 years of Northern Virginia's economic history. The growth, influence, and culture of Northern Virginia—its history—can be told through the changing values of its real estate. Washburn has served as president of the Great Falls Historical Society (1979-81), Fairfax County History Commissioner (1997-2005), and chair of the Fairfax County History Commission for two terms.
