From Barriers To Ballots: The Fight for Equal Voting Rights in Virginia

From Barriers To Ballots: The Fight for Equal Voting Rights in Virginia

August 6th marks the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which some consider to be the crowning achievement of the 1960s Civil Rights movement. It was a milestone in the long struggle to extend political representation and voting rights to Black Americans.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, City of Fairfax Regional Library has partnered with Arlington Public Library to host a traveling exhibit that tells the stories of activists, changemakers and everyday people in Arlington and Northern Virginia who fought for voting rights.

Stop by City of Fairfax Library between September 3rd and November 3rd to view the traveling exhibit and "cast your vote" for what voting means to you.
