Rescue Our Trees! A hands-on learning opportunity
November 7-16 is Rescue Trees Week in Fairfax County. Many of the trees next to our library are being smothered and strangled by invasive, non-native vines. Led by a Master Naturalist, we will have a quick lesson on how to recognize them then head outside to practice cutting them. Let’s see how many trees we can save!
Please wear clothes to protect from thorns, poison ivy, etc. (gloves, closed-toe shoes, long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and hats). We will have some tools but bring hand clippers or long-handled loppers if you have any.
Children must be age 12 or older to participate in the actual work, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
