DINOSAURS IN VIRGINIA: FOOTPRINTS REVEAL AN ANCIENT ECOSYSTEM –
Dr. Adam Pritchard, Associate Curator of Paleontology at the Virginia Museum of Natural History (Martinsville, VA), presents the story of dinosaurs based on fossils from Virginia in the collection of the museum. The ancient reptiles left their footprints across the state from Arlington to Richmond to the Carolina border across a span of more than 100 million years.
Dr. Pritchard will present the fossil footprints known from the state and dinosaur bones from the western states of the same kinds of animals to reveal the species of dinosaur that lived across the eastern United States and the strange ecosystem they occupied.
This program is best suited for older children, teens and adults. Younger children (around age 10 and under) may find the material less engaging.
