Burke Historical Society Presents: Stolen: Five Free Boys Kidnapped Into Slavery and Their Astonishing Odyssey Home
Burke Historical Society Lecture Series.
Richard Bell, Ph.D., will speak on his book Stolen: Five Free Boys Kidnapped Into Slavery and Their Astonishing Odyssey Home. Stolen received the NEH Public Scholar Award and was a finalist for the George Washington Prize and the Harriet Tubman Prize, as both an account of these five boys’ ordeal and a broader portrait of the Reverse Underground Railroad. Dr. Bell is a Professor of History at the University of Maryland, College Park, specializing in American history between 1750 and 1877.
