Bad Asians

Join us for a special event with Lillian Li, as
she discusses her new book, Bad Asians!
Lillian Li is a contemporary author whose work
explores intergenerational trauma, cultural
identity, and mental health within Asian American
communities. Her debut novel, Bad Asians,
blends dark humor with emotional depth to
examine family dynamics, inherited pain,
and the pressure of expectations across
generations. Through her writing, Li opens space for honest conversations about
healing, resilience, and the stories often left unspoken in immigrant households.
She is the author of the novel Number One Chinese Restaurant, which was an
NPR Best Book of 2018, and longlisted for the Women’s Prize and the Center
for Fiction’s First Novel Prize. Her work has been published in the New York
Times, Granta, One Story, Bon Appetit, Travel & Leisure, The Guardian, and
Jezebel. Originally from the D.C. metro area, she lives in Ann Arbor.
