REBELS, REDCOATS AND REVOLUTION

The American Revolution was more than a war for independence—it was a turning point in history that reshaped ideas of government, liberty, and national identity. What began as protests over taxes and unfair treatment grew into a movement that would change the course of history and give birth to a new nation.

In this two part course, we will explore the causes, events, and consequences of the Revolution, from the seeds of dissent sown after the French and Indian War to the victory at Yorktown. By the end, you will gain a deeper understanding of how the United States came into being, and how the 250th Anniversary of the events of 1776 are a story that still speaks to us today.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Leonard Orange is a self-proclaimed history nerd who loves learning about and discussing the American Revolution. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from James Madison University as well as a B.A. in History and M.Ed. from Virginia Commonwealth University.

He taught Advanced Placement United States History for Henrico County Public Schools and served as a College Board certified AP Reader.
