Finding Revolutionary Ancestors in the DAR's Public Database (Virtual Program)

The Genealogic Research System (GRS) is a public database of proven Revolutionary War patriots and descendants. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) offers this free resource to genealogy researchers whether or not you are interested in becoming a member.

This online session takes you on a virtual tour of the database and covers tips for finding your colonial ancestors and their descendants. While some lineages to patriot ancestors are more provable than others, the GRS can show you hints to generations difficult to validate elsewhere.

About the speaker: Lea Edwards started her genealogy research seven years ago. Now she’s the chair of the Volunteer Genealogist Committee, DAR Fairfax County Chapter. She’s a member of the Fairfax Genealogical Society’s Education Team and she gives Zoom webinars for chapter members and family. Lea retired in 2018. Her career was in organizational development, health education, and adult learning.
