Fairfax County History Book Club

Join the Virginia Room during the 250th anniversary of the United States as they read A Fairfax Friendship: The Complete Correspondence Between George Washington and Bryan Fairfax, 1754-1799 edited by Donald Sweig and Elizabeth David. Published in 1982 in commemoration of George Washington's 250th birthday, the book examines the friendship between the country's first president and Bryan Fairfax, a descendant of Fairfax County's namesake, Lord Thomas Fairfax. Many of the letters will cover the Revolutionary War period. We will virtually meet once a month on a Tuesday evening to discuss and comment on assigned readings. Zoom link will be provided to registrants.

A Fairfax Friendship can be downloaded for free on Internet Archive. Contact Chris Barbuschak to obtain a physical copy: christopher.barbuschak@fairfaxcounty.gov

On March 17, we will be discussing pages 119-170
