Museums, monuments and other institutions store and represent out past. Who chooses what is remembered and how? Dr. John Schmitz will talk about how we teach history in class and in our landscape. Register if you'd like a reminder. Adults and teens.

Dr. Schmitz's book, Enemies Among Us: the Relocation, Internment & Repatriation of German, Italian & Japanese Americans During the Second World War, will be available for sale after the talk.

About the Speaker

Dr. John E. Schmitz is an author and a professor of history at Northern Virginia Community College, Annandale Campus. Schmitz obtained a bachelor’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill, a master’s degree from NC State University, an MDiv from Virginia Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from American University.
