Escape, Evasion and Women in World War II: Fort Hunt and Fort Washington During the Second World War
Join authors Helen Fry and Lena Andrews for a special presentation of World War II history! The seminar will be hosted by park rangers from Fort Hunt (Daniel Blier) and Fort Washington Park (Alex Calta). The seminar will end with a Q&A session during which attendees can ask the presenters questions. Registration is free but required.
Helen Fry earned her PhD from the University of Exeter in 1996. She is the author of more than twenty-five books about World War II, including MI9: A History of the Secret Service for Escape and Evasion in World War Two (2020) and Women in Intelligence: The Hidden History of Two World Wars (2023). Dr Fry is featured regularly in documentaries and television specials aired in the United Kingdom. She lives in London, England.
Lena Andrews is the author of Valiant Women: The Extraordinary American Servicewomen Who Helped Win World War II and an Associate Research Professor at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy. Dr Andrews previously served as a military analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency and has also worked at the RAND Corporation and United States Institute of Peace. Her work has appeared on MSNBC, PBS, CNN, Today, People, and TIME, among many other outlets. A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Lena received her PhD in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
