The History of the American Civil War with Historian Madeline Feierstein
The American Civil War (1861-1865) reflected this young nation's complicated relationship with unity, identity, and slavery. At its core, both sides fought for their unique visions of the American experiment. Test by fire, the United States emerged victorious against its own rebellion yet reluctantly reunited. This lecture will discuss the ideological causes of the Civil War, why it was a necessary conflict, and how it laid the groundwork for future discontent.
Adults, registration is encouraged.
Presented by local historian Madeline Feierstein.
