SUMMARY:Embroidery - A Palestinian Art Form
DESCRIPTION:Palestinian embroidery\, known as tatreez\, is an ancient 
 cross-stitch tradition historically used to decorate traditional dresses. 
 Tatreez was passed down through generations\, using motifs and colors that 
 acted as a "living archive"\, signifying a woman's regional identity\, 
 marital status\, and village.\n\nThis program will include a brief 
 presentation about Palestinian embroidery and thobe traditions with several 
 examples\, followed by a workshop teaching some of the basics of 
 Palestinian tatreez.  A materials kit will be provided and students will 
 create their own piece to bring home.\n\n
