Step into Sock Knitting!
Ready to move beyond scarves and hats? Join us for a six-session workshop designed to take the mystery out of creating footwear. If you can knit and purl, you're ready to conquer the sock!
We will break down the anatomy of a sock week-by-week so you never feel overwhelmed by the construction.
Each session focuses on a milestone in your knitting journey:
- Session 1 (July 27): Learning about a sock's anatomy, measuring, and gathering materials.
- Session 2 (August 3): Casting on and mastering the cuff and leg.
- Session 3 (August 10): Turning the corner with the heel flap and turn.
- Session 4 (August 17): Managing the gusset and foot.
- Session 5 (August 24): Shaping the toe and the magic of the Kitchener stitch finish.
- Session 6 (August 31): Asking questions, if you need to!
Each session will feature instruction with limited time for knitting. Participants can choose to attend and learn about sock construction before starting their first sock, or they can knit along, using "homework" time to stay current with each session.
PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is ideal for intermediate beginners who can comfortably cast on, knit, and purl. This is NOT a learn-to-knit class or suitable for beginner knitters. Registration is limited to those who have not yet knitted a full sock—this is a "first-timers" sanctuary!
Space is limited to ensure everyone receives hands-on help. RSVP to secure your spot; registration opens on July 13.
