Zoolights at the National Zoo

Visit the National Zoo after dark for the annual ZooLights display, which includes 500,000 LED lights, live music performances every night, and winter treats. The Elephant Outpost will be transformed into a gingerbread village and Lion-Tiger Hill will have “Reindeer Games” including inflatable slides and a holiday-themed obstacle course. Make sure to stop by the Conservation Pavilion to roast s’mores over fire pits.

Light canopy: Explore an interactive light canopy that responds to music, creating a unique sound and light show as you listen to the festive sounds of holiday performers on the Great Meadow. Laser lights: Watch animals come to life in laser lights on the outdoor wall of the Elephant Community Center. Now with two shows!

Take a merry tour on the Smithsonian's National Zoo Choo-Choo, which whisks guests around the Kids’ Farm and features gorgeous views of the holiday light displays. Hop on to your choice of 50 animal figurines at the Conservation Carousel, which highlights the Zoo's incredible research and success stories.

Zoolights runs Nov. 23 to Jan. 1 (except Dec. 24, 25 and 31).

Please note that ZooLights does not feature the Zoo’s animals.

A flat-rate parking fee of $15 for Friends of the National Zoo members and $25 for nonmembers will apply.
