Ham Radio Field Day

Ole Virginia Hams Field Day in Nokesille Park. This event is designed to exercise our disaster communications capability, Field Day is held each June. Thousands of hams take to the field with their radios, generators, and camping gear. This is a family event and all family and guests are welcome. There is a covered dish cookout at 5:00 pm, which is open to all. Following the dinner, there will be a foxhunt on 2 meter and 440 bands.  There will be 440 directional antennas to attach to your HT.   Please bring your HT for this event.
This event runs all night and night operators are needed. Equipment is set up as would be done in an emergency situation, then operators try to contact as many stations as possible, but in a relaxed atmosphere. Reading call signs through the static and other radio traffic. This year FT8 will be available as a digital mode which promises greater distances and more points per contact. More information.
