Meteor Astronomy - The Perseids
This basic meteor astronomy seminar discusses what is a meteor, their origins, best time to view, fireball reporting, visual and video observing techniques, movie clips from past meteor storms, how one estimates trajectory and orbits, and other instrumental techniques used by amateur meteor observers. The class will be held during the peak night for the Perseid meteor shower. One-hour course followed by optional outdoor observing session after class, weather permitting. Ages 8 to adult.
