Public Historian Niya Bates on Monticello's African-American history

FCPL welcomes public historian Niya Bates for a talk about her work on Monticello's Getting Word African American Oral History Project. Ms. Bates will share research and photographs from Monticello and answer questions after her talk. Her current research interests include slavery and Reconstruction, Black radicalism, genealogy of families enslaved in Virginia, and rural cultural preservation. Ms. Bates is currently working on a PhD in History at Princeton University. Adult. R.
