Burke Historical Society Lecture Series.

Tom Shoop, editor-at-large at GovExec Media and budding local historian will discuss his research for a book on the history of the Ilda community: how it came to be formed, its gradual disappearance, and the battle to preserve its memory and that of the Guinea Road cemetery. His book will tell the story through the eyes of four people: Horace Gibson, Moses Parker (the founders of Ilda), Hareen Badil-Abish, and Dennis Howard (two of their descendants who exhaustively researched the family's history).
