Author Joyana Peters: The Girl in the Triangle

The Girl in the Triangle is a fictional story of a recently immigrated woman working at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory and also involved in the Garment Workers' Uprising in 1909.  The author will speak about this uprising as well as the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire of 1911.  The fire, which killed 146 workers, led to legislation requiring improved factory safety standards and helped spur the growth of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (ILGWU), which fought for better working conditions for sweatshop workers.  Books available for sale and signing.  Adults.
