Race Relations in Alexandria: The Alexandria Community Remembrance Project

Race Relations in Alexandria: The Alexandria Community Remembrance Project

Learn about the history of race relations in Alexandria and the Alexandria Community Remembrance Project (ACRP). Speakers Audrey Davis, co-director of the ACRP, and Tiffany Pache, coordinator for ACRP, will discuss the Project. This city-wide initiative is dedicated to helping Alexandria understand its history of racial terror hate crimes and to work toward creating a welcoming community bound by equity and inclusion.

Ms. Davis and Ms. Pache will also describe the pilgrimage taken by ACRP, members of the community, and Alexandria City High School students last fall to the Equal Justice Initiative's National Memorial for Peace and Justice and The Legacy Museum. There they delivered soil collected from locations that symbolically reflect the lives of Alexandreia's two known lynching victims, Joseph McCoy and Benjamin Thomas.

This is a virtual event. Participants will receive an email with the Zoom information prior to the event.

This virtual event is co-sponsored by Alexandria and Mt. Vernon branches of AAUW.
