Martha's Escape Room Extravaganza

Martha's Escape Room Extravaganza

This summer the Martha Washington library is pleased to present a series of escape rooms designed for older elementary children, teens and adults. Each session is designed for a single group signup, ideally from four to eight players. There are four available escape rooms for different ages and with different challenge levels. Simply sign up for your desired event time. You will receive an email from the event organizers. Just let them know which of the escape rooms you'd like to try, and they'll take care of the rest. They can also advise you on the best escape room for your group and will answer any questions you may have.

Choose from the following escape rooms:

Mad Hatter’s Crazy Wonderland Escape – best for adults, teens, and adults participating with children older elementary and up

“He stole my tarts! Off with his head!” cries the Queen of Hearts as the Mad Hatter is dragged off by her guards. The Mad Hatter has an alibi – but to find it, you’ll have to navigate a mad series of outrageous puzzles and clues. The trial starts in 45 minutes. Can you save the Mad Hatter in time?

Total Radical 80s Time Travel Adventure – best for adults and teens

Welcome back to 1986! Here you will find all of our cutting-edge technology from the 1980s - which you will need to use, along with your knowledge of all that was rad in the 80s, to get yourself back to the present day. You only have 45 minutes before you are stuck in the past forever.

Breakout of Mr. Lemoncello’s Library – best for older elementary/middle school

School has ended, and you and your friends are still in the library working quietly on your school project. Mr. Lemoncello forgets to check the back area where you and your friends have been working. He sets the alarm and leaves for the day. You and your friends get up to leave and notice the library is locked and the alarm is set. This isn’t the first time this has happened, so Mr. Lemoncello has a “breakout” procedure for those students locked in the library, which he leaves near the entrance. Can you and your friends break out in time for dinner?

Author Chris Grabenstein helped create this escape room game. To learn more about Chris Grabenstein and the Mr. Lemoncello series, visit https://chrisgrabenstein.com/.

Aquarium Twist – best for older elementary and families

There are lots of exciting new exhibits at the aquarium: sharks, whales, and jellyfish. This aquarium is a little backwards, though. You don’t need tickets to enter, but you do need them to exit. It’s fun hanging out with your ocean friends, but the aquarium closes in 45 minutes. If you want to sleep in your own bed tonight, you’ll have to puzzle it out, find your exit tickets, and break out of the aquarium.
