Find & Replace – Editing Secrets Workshop
Celebrate Indie Author Day!
Just like any other piece of the writing process, editing is a craft to be learned. So often the best of stories are held back not by the author’s creativity but by common typos, cliché phrasings and vague descriptions that don’t hook the reader as much as they could. In this workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to brainstorm weak story examples together and will be given a “cheat sheet” to bring their writing to the next level using Kris Spisak's favorite editing technique.
After this presentation, visit the branch's lobby to meet and chat with local authors!
About Kris
Kris Spisak wrote her first three books - Get a Grip on Your Grammar: 250 Writing and Editing Reminders for the Curious or Confused, The Novel Editing Workbook, and The Family Story Workbook - to help writers of all kinds sharpen their storytelling and empower their communications. Her debut novel, The Baba Yaga Mask, was inspired by her family’s experience in the post-WWII Ukrainian diaspora. When not working on her own projects, Kris is an active speaker, workshop leader and fiction editor.
